Tollington Park 5 - 2 Harmony

TP kicked of this game against a Harmony Team who had had a poor start in the league.

But it was Harmony who struck first with a striker smashing the ball into the net in the early stages. TP began to press but looked a bit edgy in the final third. They were awarded a free kick halfway through the first half and equalised with Gus showing quick initiative. A quick free kick was taken and Gus ran through to score of the inside of the far post.

TP then quickly took the lead when Ferris chased down the goal keeper and blocked his clearance with his back side and the ball rebounded in. This uplifted the TP team and the hustling particularly from Gus, Ferris and Stuart was causing problems and forcing errors.

In the second half the woodwork was hit on a number of occasions by TP but they then furthered their lead when Gus picked up the ball and slotted home. Harmony began to build and were rewarded with a goal from their midfield dynamo, who smashed his shot into the top corner. TP were under severe pressure but were coping at the back with Ian throwing himself in front of every shot. Max cleared off the line and the spectators began to wonder if TP would hang on.

TP then killed the game off when Stuart chased down a defender and blocked his clearance allowing Ferris to run through one on one with the keeper and he eloquently lifted his shot over the keeper for 4-2.

Tony thought he had scored TP’s fifth when he ran past 2 defenders and blasted the ball into the net but the ref had already blown for a penalty. Tony graciously gave the spot kick to Ferris who slightly scuffed his shot into the corner.
