Tollington Park 2 - 2 ELT

TP took on a ELT team who finished in the TOP 3 last season and gave a spirited performance.

The game plan was to use width to get round the ELT back line.

ELT took an early lead was played in over the top and he slotted the ball home passed the oncoming David in goal.

TP kept their heads up and began to play some football with Tony and Arsan playing some one-touch football and Gus fired wide. Towards the end of the half TP began to dominate and almost equalised from a corner with Gareth heading just over.

Trevor’s team talk at the break was to get an early double and we would control this game.

TP got those two early goals courtesy of two tidy finishes from James.  The first he latched onto a back pass and slotted past the goalkeeper. The second he smashed home after the ball was lose around the box. He then had another chance to make it 3-1 but the goal keeper was equal.

With 10 minutes to go ELT levelled when a winger got passed Dwayne, crossed in, and a ELT striker passed the ball in. Underservedly, ELT were level. This set up an exciting finale with both teams playing a counterattacking style but with no finesse as both defences with the attacks comfortably.
